ROOM 1 > STAR WARZ >>>

Fred V & Grafix ( Hospital Rec, UK )

The latest signings to Hospital come in the form of fledgling stars Fred Vahrman and Josh Jackson a.k.a Fred V & Grafix. A pair of producers who have been working together for the past five years now and showing huge promise of late, the boys have already brought us such gems as “One Of These Days”, “Long Distance“ and “Room To Breathe”, as well as featuring on a number of Hospitality compilations.

Having already released music on Allsorts and Talkin Beatz and receiving Radio One support, Fred V & Grafix made their Hospital debut on the “Fifteen Years of Hospital Records” album with “Find My Way”. As well as producers within their own right, Fred V & Grafix have also stunned us with their remixes of Emeli Sande’s “Daddy” and Skepta’s “Hold On”.

Icicle b2b Nymfo ( Shogun Audio, UK / NL )

Twice voted ‘Best Dutch DJ’ in the past few years, Amsterdam-based Nymfo (aka Bardo Camp) may be no newcomer to Drum ‘n’ Bass but has recently established himself amongst its most promising production talents.

Nymfo has captivated crowds at festivals such as Lowlands and toured worldwide to destinations including New Zealand and South Africa. With years of experience promoting his own events, he’s held residencies at Red Zone (which he ran together with Martyn for over 10 years) and Breek in Eindhoven yet Nymfo remains keener than ever to reach new places. And things were taken further by more releases on Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, CIA, Samurai and Dispatch plus collaborations with Black Sun Empire, Klute and S.P.Y.

Jeroen Snik – aka Icicle – is recognized as one of the most technically advanced and highly-respected producers in electronic music. Mastering tech-funk better than any other, Icicle’s music is graceful yet daring and, without doubt, technically remarkable. After commanding the attention of the masses with releases on labels such as Shogun Audio, Soul:R, Renegade Hardware and Critical, Icicle made the move from Holland to London in 2008, and now officially reps Shogun Audio.

‘Spartan’, Icicle’s debut on Shogun, broke a musical mould and securely positioned his elaborate engineering skills on the proverbial map. This was followed by his debut album for Shogun: “Under the Ice” which cemented his position even further.

Phace vs Misanthrop ( Neosignal, DE )

Over the past years, Germany´s Phace has cemented a prominent role within the international Drum ‘n’ Bass and Broken Beats scene with a plethora of distinct and outstanding releases on the scene’s biggest labels such as Renegade Hardware, Subtitles Music, Virus Recordings, Shogun Audio, Vision, Lifted, and Cyanide, amongst many others. The unique sound of Phace is imbued with deep cinematic flourishes, explosive energy, and a human analog touch, piquing demand for appearances at clubs, festivals and within the music press around the globe. Voted as ‘Best National Drum & Bass Producer and DJ’ in 2006 and ‘Best National Producer’ in 2009 at Germany’s Future Music Awards, Phace has proven early in his career what he’s capable of, both behind the boards and on the decks.

At the tail end of 2008, Phace joined forces with long-time friend Misanthrop and launched Neosignal, Phace’s long-awaited record label, and unleashed celebrated singles, remixes (for UK’s Hadouken!) and collaborations (with Noisia, Misanthrop and Spor). Phace also released his second full-length, From Deep Space, to great fanfare within the international D’n’B scene on Neosignal.

The Prototypes ( Shogun Audio, UK )

After an astonishing rise to fame, DJ and production duo The Prototypes have rapidly become the most recognized name among the 'new breed' of Drum ‘n’ Bass artists. Accredited as amongst the freshest and most exciting talents to emerge in recent years it’s no wonder that leading lights 'Shogun Audio' signed them up.

It needed to be a big release to follow up their huge anthem 'Cascade' but when the massive 'Born to Rise EP' dropped on Shogun, it tore up the rule book on debut releases. Title track 'Born to rise' smashed raves worldwide and also the anthem and old skool rave mash 'Taking me over' received massive play on BBC Radio 1, proving that there is more depth to these boys than meets the eye. With all this going on its no surprise that remix work for The Prototypes came in the form of Snoop Dogg, Ed Sheeran, Avicii & Sebastien & Modestep...scoring them A-list play on no other than MTV's famous dance channel 'MTV Dance'

TC ( Don’t Play, UK )

There are few figures in electronic music who manage to combine commercial success with underground respectability. The Bristol-based producer and DJ known as TC is one such individual, using his talents to comfortably fit between remixing Number One artists ( Rihanna, Damian Marley & Nas, Tinie Tempah, .. ) as well as unleashing rave-razing bass-driven monsters pitched straight at the underground ( such as his debut album Evolution on Valve Rec ).

More than just another faceless DJ or studio-confined producer, TC broke convention early on by singing on many of his own tracks, and provided vocals for Pendulum’s debut album ‘Hold Your Colour’, a habit he continues to this day, having recently supplied vocals for Hospital starlets Camo & Krooked’s debut LP and the mighty Subfocus’ second album. He also launched his very own record label, Don’t Play and the artistic freedom offered by being his own boss is already clearly paying dividends for TC.

Brookes Brothers ( Breakbeat Kaos, UK )

Since their first forays into Drum ‘n’ Bass production back in 2002 the Brookes Brothers have come a very long way, establishing themselves as one of the A-list production power-houses in the scene today. Signed exclusively by Breakbeat Kaos in 2007, the duo have gone on to chart-topping success and garnered recognition that most can only dream of within only a few years.

Their debut single on BBK ‘Hard Knocks’ b/w ‘Mistakes’ saw them off with a bang. Proving they were no flash in the pan the brothers then came up with their biggest release to date, the awe-inspiring, Radio 1 play-listed, ‘Tear You Down’. Since then remix work for the likes of Norman Cook and Chase & Status has kept their name in lights along with a hectic global DJing schedule. And then followed their debut album with the same name and they quickly took the world by storm with their unique brand of soulful, future-thinking, dance floor Drum ‘n’ Bass.

Murdock ( Radar Records )

Murdock has over a decade and a half of Drum ‘n’ Bass in Belgium under his belt and has gone from throwing small bashes to rocking every major festival in the country several times over. He ran Jungle Fever on a weekly basis for 4 years straight. And is now back on national radio with his own show called "Murdock", dropping the very best in Dubstep and Drum ‘n’ Bass (and beyond!) every Friday night.

Murdock released the mix-cd 'Jungle Fever Vol 1' in Dec '09, which was immediately sold out, and was followed by Vol 2 in Dec '10. He launched Radar Records in March '10 with Netsky's 'Your Way'/'Daydreaming' 12" selling like hot cakes. Murdock also launched his new Broken Music label, with releases by Requake & Badklaat, Brownz, Bloodfire and Le Cousin, and remixes by Science, BunZero and Metrobox. Murdock promotes Breakdown in Hasselt and Genk and stepped up the game with Radar @ Silo, Leuven, Rampage @ Trix, Antwerpen, and Wasted @ ICC, Gent.

One87 & Hookerz ( Star Warz )

ONE87 has been a Ghent resident, Drum ‘n’ Bass promoter, -dj and -producer for a while now. He is the promoter and resident of Star Warz which had almost all upcoming or established artists & labels in the scene over and is also partner of Tomorrowland, one of the world’s finest festivals. One87 played over a thousand national & international dj sets of which some highlights include sets at Metalheadz in London, Pukkelpop and Tomorrowland. One87 signed his music on CRITICAL MUSIC and is planning to continue to do so.

Hookerz is a Ghent based Drum ‘n’ Bass DJ who’s known for his fast mixing skills and wide range of tune selection. By destroying dance-floors all over the country, Hookerz has proven himself to be a real killer DJ. Hookerz used to play back2back with dj Gaz from Rotation dubstep. Both rude boys mashed up some of the biggest raves and clubs such as Star Warz, Culture Club and Petrol. However for this New Years he will be hook up with One87 as a special treat to the fans. Next to being a dj, Hookerz is, together with MC Nice, also one of the hosts of the legendary Steam nights at club Decadance. Hookerz was voted ‘Best dnb dj of 2010’ on Belgium's biggest dnb community, breakzforum.be & his live set was voted ‘Best mix-tape of the year’.

Athys & Duster ( Titan Records )

Athys & Duster got on with it instantly collecting gigs at several big Belgian clubs and festivals. They got picked up by AMC for his new label Titan Records and their first release got play-listed by Drum ‘n’ Bass Arena, BBC 1Xtra and several other radio-stations. Sitting in the bag of people like Andy C, Brookes Brothers, Original Sin and Crissy Criss these guys may be the next big thing coming out of Belgium and hitting Drum ‘n’ Bass.

http://www.facebook.com/Athys.Duster

Tito & Echo Virus vs James Marvel ( Stealth Bombers / Ammunition, Radar )

Echo Virus & Tito run Stealth Bombers which is one of the biggest and longest running independent Drum ‘n’ Bass events in Belgium since 2005. That’s also the year in which they did a back-to-back session for the first time and this collaboration still stands today!

Tito & Echo Virus are booked almost on a weekly basis all over Belgium and had several international bookings in France, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, The Netherlands, …When it comes to major gigs, this duo has plenty of experience under their belt too. They’ve played at every big festival in Belgium and are off course residents at their own Stealth Bombers.

Musical centipede James Marvel fell in love with the Belgian underground jungle scene which was exploding way back and has been cooking up productions for nearly ten years now. A debut release saw the light of day on Ammunition records, which got him the support of Youtube channels like NFG and DubNBass. Later on the tune 'Want My Love' scored a bit of a hit with airplay on national radio in Belgium.

Remixing Daan's Swedish Designer Drugs for Radar Records, collaborating with Athys & Duster on their debut EP on Titan Records, and more releases to come through Ammunition. Marvel is confirming his skill to put out a variety of sounds in a most conveying way.

Ethnic Flavours brings jump-up, liquid, dark and underground DnB while Split Personality is more into the experimental, half tempo, deep and mental side of the genre. Together they started ‘Halogen’, a brand new Drum ‘n’ Bass concept made for those who love deep beats and hard drops! On the first edition they invited 'Proximity Recordings', Basher's label.
