Concept :

We have another big treat in store for the fans of breakbeats & fat basslines. Star Warz - one of the finest Drum ‘n’ Bass events the world has ever seen - will be joining forces with Daily Dubstep - Mr. M & One87’s freshest Dubstep event – once again after the - out of this world - New Year edition.

This time two of the biggest names in Drum ‘n’ Bass and Dubstep will be going head to head in one room, our beloved Concert-hall of the Vooruit.

In the world of electronic music, there are few bigger names than that of Andy C. Regarded as one of the greatest DJs ever to touch a turntable, the Ram Records founder is one of the most iconic and important figures in global dance music culture, and his dedication to the music he loves is only matched by his list of achievements. Having won dozens of awards for his near-superhuman DJ-ing skills, Andy C’s incredible career has taken him from early-90s raves in his native Essex to the terraces of Space in Ibiza and the Oxford University Union. And while Andy has consistently wowed crowds from behind the decks, his productions as part of Origin Unknown and later Ram Trilogy have solidified a reputation as one of the most important figures in the evolution of Drum ‘n’ Bass. As his regular ‘Nightlife’ series of mix CDs consistently take the sound of Drum ‘n’ Bass ever further, Andy still finds time for the label he set up as a 16 year old, namely Ram Records.

The Alive concept is about taking DJ shows to a new dimension, capturing the energy of Andy C’s DJ-set and translating that to an audio visual experience that fills the room and invites audience interaction. As ever - at the heart of the set up - Andy will be using 3 turntables, but with added cutting edge technology to produce a spectacular visual event and software to remix tracks ‘on the fly’. Or in his own words: “This is something I’ve been wanting to do for some years and now the technology is in place and available to do exactly what I want, I’m more excited than ever to take this on the road”. It speaks for itself that Star Warz vs Daily Dubstep is really excited to welcome him.

Aside from the best haircut in Dubstep, Benga has a lot to be happy about. At 15 he released his debut 12” “Skank/Dose” on one of Dubstep’s founding imprints, Big Apple. A&Red by one of the most influential DJs in Dubstep, DJ Hatcha, Benga, alongside first Skream, then Loefah, Coki and Mala Digital Mystikz, built exclusive musical ammunition for Hatcha. It was this material, aired by Hatcha alone at Forward>>, that propelled Dubstep from UK garage offshoot to innovative genre in its own right.

Now, after many years behind the scenes in terms of production, crafting tracks for global superstars such as Rihanna and Eve just to name two, all eyes are on Benga and his new supergroup Magnetic Man as they continue to take over the mainstream charts. With recent hits such as Katy B’s ‘Katy on a mission’, which rose to number 4 at its peak in the UK and had number ones across Europe. Benga has produced acclaimed tracks such as ‘Night’ alongside Coki and ‘Baltimore Clap’ which was also an underground sensation.

This clash of the titans will be supported by Nicon from Holland who is making waves with his Dubstep imprint, Subway Music as well as Star Warz resident One87 who will be celebrating his 20th anniversary as a dj. on this party. For this occasion he is teaming up with MC Mush from the Steam parties at Decadance.

Also on the decks you can find Daily Dubstep’s resident soundsystem NGA Sound and Hookerz also of Steam fame.

Prepare to be properly shaken and stirred by the best of the best!

Umbrella must pay...
