Concept:

To all the fans of breakbeats & fat basslines; hold on tight!
This New Years Eve you are in for a very special treat.

Star Warz - one of the finest Drum ‘n’ Bass events the world has ever seen - will be joining forces with Daily Dubstep - Mr. M & One87’s most fresh Dubstep event - to bring you one of the biggest and baddest parties ever to be held in this country…and that on a new years eve !

For this double break-fest they will fill two rooms in the mighty ICC location in Ghent with the biggest and best international & national artists from the Drum’n’bass and Dubstep scene !

Headliners in the Star Warz Drum ‘n’ Bass room are Austrian duo Camo and Krooked who are currently scoring big with their long awaited debut album ‘Cross the Line’ on Hospital Records. They will be joined by stable mate Logistics who already has 3 albums out on Hospital Records as well as numerous 12” on which he helped define the modern Hospital Sound.

There will also be a lot of joint action in the Star Warz room, starting with The Brookes Brothers from Breakbeat Kaos who will have just unleashed their debut album with the same name upon the crowds.

Icicle, originally from Holland but now living in the UK, will team up with fellow Dutch man Nymfo for double Dutch power. Also Icicle has a new album for us with ‘Under the Ice’ on Shogun and Nymfo has releases out and due on Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, CIA, Samurai and Dispatch plus collaborations with Black Sun Empire, Klute and S.P.Y this year.

The boys from Sigma who’s Life label and podcasts are doing extremely well, will join our own party hero Murdock behind the decks.

Not sharing the decks so often are our resident One87 and Hookerz from the Steam parties in Decadance. But they are sure up for it, as they have proven at the last edition of Tomorrowland !

And then, we have a well-known duo who almost always share the decks together with Tito & Echo Virus, the undisputed residents of the famous Stealth Bombers parties.

Another explosive mix will come from the ladies duo Foxy Lady and her MC Elvee who have been setting many dance-floors on fire and will undoubtedly do so here to.

Up and coming talent Vicelord will warm up the room for all these big guns with his typical 3 decks set.

Next door, the Dubstep breaks will be served on the Daily Dubstep stage by again the biggest names in the scene, starting with N Type, the honcho of the Wheel & Deal label who also runs the Sin City label with Hatcha.

Next up is Emalkay from Dub Police, next be having several hit-singles to his name, he’s also a well in demand remixer who’s laid his hands on tracks from the likes of Faithless, BBE & Amon Tobin.

Also from the Dub Police, the label of dubstep legend Caspa, are both The Others and Trolley Snatcha who will be delivering a back-to-back set.

These foreign players will be joined by Belgium’s finest as Science and Kastor and Dice from the mighty Untitled parties and label as well as the new NGA Soundsystem made up of Daily Dubstep resident Allspark & Rotation resident Gaz with MC Nice on the mic.

Mate & Fudge from the After 12 parties and radio-show on Urgent FM complete the line-up in the Dubstep room.

Both rooms will be set on fire even more by some of the Uk’s leading MC’s as SP:MC and Stamina as well as the number one MC from Holland DMC and MC Mush from the Steam parties in Decadance.

As we said, hold on tight, cause this party will set this New Year on fire from the very start!

Artist info:

ROOM 1 > STAR WARZ >>>

Camo & Krooked ( Hospital Records, A )

Austrian duo Reinhard Rietsch and Markus Wagner, otherwise known as Camo & Krooked have quickly become one of the hottest production outfits in Europe. Working together since 2007 they were soon being hailed as "one of the biggest talents in Drum ‘n’ Bass" by the mighty Grooverider. The Viennese pair have created a whirl of dance-floor anthems in recent times. On Hospital Records they have released soulful tracks like massive hit single ’Turn Up The Music’ to the raw power of smashers like "Climax".

They have also been in demand on a remix tip; their remix of John B’s ’Numbers’ is a good example that they can always be relied upon to hit the right buttons. In three short years, the pair have released on a wealth of top notch labels including Breakbeat Kaos, Audio Porn, Viper Recordings, Beta Recordings, Renegade Hardware and are now officially signed to Hospital Records.

Alongside their studio work Camo & Krooked have a hectic DJ schedule which has seen them become sought after party starters, armed to the teeth with hottest dubplates plus their own awesome productions, often only finished the day of a show.

And now there is their debut album on Hospital, ‘Cross the Line’. With two very successful singles, ‘All fall down’ and ‘Make the call’ already, Camo & Krooked will continue to be the name on everyone’s lips for a good while yet!

Logistics ( Hospital Rec, UK )

Logistics grew up on a self prescribed musical diet, equal parts guitar based compositions from bands such as Rage Against The Machine and down tempo efforts from labels like Mo’ Wax. Matt Logistics railed against the music his brother, Dan Nu:Tone would listen to and finally acquired a taste for Drum ‘n’ Bass through the Full Cycle ’Music Box’ LP.

It wasn’t until he sent ‘Replay’ down to the Hospital office, swiftly followed by Fabio and Grooverider picking up on the tune, that he got his chance to work on his own album project. Having just left college this was a great opportunity for Logistics and he made the very best of it, working solidly on creating masterpieces in the form of ‘Together, Spacejam, The Trip and Release The Pressure’ and bridging the gap between what until then had often been a mere sub-genre: Liquid Funk and more exciting, dance floor orientated Drum ‘n’ Bass. It’s Logistics’ influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound.

The LP itself ‘Now More Than Ever’ (released in winter 2005) is a hugely ambitious project, restraining no less than 24 speaker busting tunes beneath its calm exterior a double CD affair with CD1 ’Now’ offering a traditional Logistics sound while CD2 ’More Than Ever’ comes at you like a hungry Lion, simply and effectively looking to tear out your jugular with a deeper and rougher sound.

18 months on, having scooped Best Album at the 1xtra Bass awards for his debut album, Logistics dropped his second long player ‘Reality Checkpoint’. Rammed full of genre bending goodness it was heralded as a glimpse of the future with dubstep and electronica influences fusing together with the anthemic Logistics sound.

2008 saw the Luke Skywalker of the Future Sound Of Cambridge drop the massive track ‘Cosmonaut’ and feature on several awesome collaborations with Commix and brother Nu:Tone. His third album ‘Crash bang Wallop’ on Hospital Records followed the year after as well as several other 12” and collaborations in 2010.

Brookes Brothers ( Breakbeat Kaos, UK )

Since their first forays into Drum ‘n’ Bass production back in 2002 The Brookes Brothers have come a very long way, establishing themselves as one of the A-list production power-houses in the scene today. Signed exclusively by Breakbeat Kaos in 2007, the duo have gone on to chart-topping success and garnered recognition that most can only dream of within only a few years.

Their debut single on BBK ‘Hard Knocks’ b/w ‘Mistakes’ saw them off with a bang, picking up huge support from not only the likes of Andy C and Grooverider but also Zane Lowe and Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Collaborations followed in 2008 with Ram’s Culture Shock and also with Hospital’s Danny Byrd whose joint effort ‘Goldrush’ received massive plaudits from critics everywhere. It was their remix of J Majik & Wickaman’s ‘Crazy World’ though the same year that did what not many other D&B producers have ever managed to do and make it onto national daytime radio playlists. Now rapidly becoming a household name the remix requests began to pour in and their glorious re-work of ‘Star Guitar’ was one of the many outstanding results.

Proving they were no flash in the pan the brothers then came up with their biggest release to date, the awe-inspiring, Radio 1 play-listed, ‘Tear You Down’. Spending 2 weeks at no.1 in the UK dance chart and a further 15 weeks in the top 20, even being made ‘Record Of the Week’ by Radio 1’s Sara Cox gave them yet another injection of worldwide critical acclaim that others will find hard to beat. Since then remix work for the likes of Norman Cook and Chase & Status has kept their name in lights along with a hectic global DJing schedule.

And now there is also their eagerly awaited debut album with which The Brookes Brothers are reaching the upper echelons of dance music and take the world by storm with their unique brand of soulful, future-thinking, dance floor Drum ‘n’ Bass.

Icicle vs Nymfo ( Shogun Audio, NL / UK )

Jeroen Snik – aka Icicle – is recognized as one of the most technically advanced and highly-respected producers in electronic music. Mastering tech-funk better than any other, Icicle’s music is graceful yet daring and, without doubt, technically remarkable, tinged with intricate drum patterns reminiscent of Photek and entrancing, enveloping bass-lines à la Jonny L and Optical.

After commanding the attention of the masses with releases on labels such as Shogun Audio, Soul:R, Renegade Hardware and Critical, Icicle made the move from Holland to London in 2008, and now officially reps Shogun Audio. ‘Spartan’, Icicle’s debut on Shogun, broke a musical mould and securely positioned his elaborate engineering skills on the proverbial map.

With bookings in abundance all over the world, Mr Freeze’s sound ventures have kept the listeners anticipating eagerly his every release prompting a dangerously frosty EP on Shogun Audio in 2009 - the ‘Cold Fear’ EP - featuring an ice-cool collaboration ‘Driftwood’ with tech-pioneers, Noisia. Impressively, Icicle’s deep, dark and futuristic dubstep has been fervently received on a global scale and caused groundbreaking responses from the dubstep world, thanks to ‘Minimal Dub’ b/w ‘Xylophobia’ released on Shogun Audio in 2010 and ’Anything’ his debut for Tempa, arguably dubstep’s most revered label. There really are no constraints to this producer’s aptitude - nothing short of astonishing.

Even greater news, then, that Icicle’s has just released his debut album for Shogun: “Under the Ice”. "The debut album project is something entirely different to everything else I’ve done so far," explains Icicle. "When you write a 12" you just write loads of tunes and then the label picks two that they think fit their sound, then sell it, that’s it. For my album though all the music has to be related in some way and tell a story. You only get one shot at a debut album, so it took time."

Twice voted ‘Best Dutch DJ’ in the past few years, Amsterdam-based Nymfo (aka Bardo Camp) may be no newcomer to Drum ‘n’ Bass but has recently established himself amongst its most promising production talents. With a versatile and infectious style, his tracks have already won support across the scene from the likes of Goldie, Friction, Fabio, Hype, BSE, Teebee, Klute, Doc Scott, S.P.Y, Commix, Kasra, Logistics and more

Nymfo’s breakthrough came in 2007, with releases on Shogun Ltd, Renegade Hardware and a 12” for Critical alongside Icicle. Solo releases for Critical and Crunch soon followed, with ‘Franky Mountain’ (alongside Icicle) earning a prestigious Ram release on the ‘Dimensions 3’ EP. Further honing his sound and remaining versatile, Nymfo stepped up with singles for CIA, Inneractive and 31 Records before really hitting his stride in 2010. With a potent combination of powerful beats and hypnotic techno-influenced grooves, a guest appearance on Black Sun Empire’s LP (‘Kempi) plus two strong singles for Commercial Suicide and Critical Modulations set dancefloors blazing worldwide and marked Nymfo as a name to remember

An accomplished DJ with a diverse selection, Nymfo has captivated crowds at festivals such as Lowlands and toured worldwide to destinations including New Zealand and South Africa. With years of experience promoting his own events, he’s held residencies at Red Zone (which he ran together with Martyn for over 10 years) and Breek in Eindhoven yet Nymfo remains keener than ever to reach new places and take his music further: Things are looking bright for Nymfo in 2011 with more releases due on Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, CIA, Samurai and Dispatch plus collaborations with Black Sun Empire, Klute and S.P.Y

Sigma vs Murdock ( Life Recordings / Radar Records, UK / BE )

Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie aka Sigma, have been making their presence felt on the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene since 2007. From early releases on labels such as Charge and Viper Recordings, to the seminal All Blue on Zinc’s Bingo imprint (DNBA’s most downloaded tracks ever), the boys stepped up to the big time with serious dance-floor killers ‘Paint It Black’ and the anthem ‘El Presidente VIP’. .. .. With respect now gained with the scene as producers and highly sought after DJs, Sigma continue working to maximize their profile within the realms of D&B and beyond it. Highlights include their featured mini-mix for Annie Mac on Radio One, squeezing in 35 tracks in five minutes as well as remix work for artists such as Top Cat on Special Dedication, Ms Dynamite, and grime stalwart Skepta on Rescue Me (300,000 plays and counting).

In amongst all the music and DJ gigs the guys found time to start their own label, Life Recordings, with debut release El Presidente VIP/ Something Special going on to be Nu-Urban’s highest selling release of 2009. They were also awarded Best Breakthrough DJs at the Drum ‘n’ Bass Arena awards.

Kicking off 2010 with ‘Shut The Lights Off’ with Adam F and hip hop legend Redman, this is followed by their debut release for Breakbeat Kaos… ‘The Stand Tall EP’, consisting of four tracks, it’s Sigma quality and diversity all the way through. Three of the EPs four tracks are featured on the Ministry of Sound compilation CD entitled Mixed…. by DJ Friction, along with Paint It Black VIP.

To add to all of this is the exciting collaboration with BBK head honcho and D&B legend DJ Fresh on Cylon. What else to look forward to from Sigma? Well, there’s more episodes of their Life Podcasts. Utilizing this wide reaching medium as a platform to further showcase their and other artists talents, previous guests include Goldie, Original Sin, DJ Fresh, IC3 and The Nextmen. Also keep an eye out for Sigma’s video diary on You Tube. .. ..

Murdock has over a decade and a half of Drum ‘n’ Bass in Belgium under his belt and has gone from throwing small bashes to rocking every major festival in the country several times over. Running Jungle Fever (national radio Studio Brussel - Mondays) on a weekly basis for 4 years straight. Since the show stopped he’s been a regular guestmixer for Switch and he gathered the number one spot as most popular Monthly Playground Mix.
As of September 2011 he’s back on national radio with his own show called "Murdock", dropping the very best in dubstep and drum&bass (and beyond!) every Friday night from 11pm to midnight, mixing and presenting, and getting listeners ready for the weekend.

Murdock released the mix-cd ’Jungle Fever Vol 1’ in Dec ’09, which was immediately sold out, and was followed by Vol 2 in Dec ’10 which flew off the shelves just the same. He compiled big tunes by friends like Sigma, Camo&Krooked, Total Science, Danny Byrd, Trei, Crystal Clear and many more to form the ultimate homegrown drum&bass mix series. Vol 1 contained 3 tracks he produced with boy wonder Netsky.

He launched Radar Records in March ’10 with Netsky’s ’Your Way’/’Daydreaming’ 12" selling like hot cakes. That 12" was succeeded by the first two releases in the Radar Remix series, which sees a number of classic Belgian dance tracks remixed by the Drum ‘n’ Bass greats. So far Netsky, KG, Break and Nymfo have delivered smashing versions of original music by Shameboy, Buscemi, Magnus and Ultrasonic7. Murdock has just released the first EP on his new Broken Music label, which sets out to release electronic music by Belgian producers, transcending all genre boundaries. The first EP is by Requake & Badklaat. Watch out for upcoming releases by Brownz, Bloodfire and Le Cousin, and remixes by Science, BunZero and Metrobox.

Currently, Murdock is spending time in the studio. The collaborations with Netsky, ’Shut Mouth’ and ’Hooked On You’ have started to live their own live on the net, while his work with Atmospherix is slowly starting to see the light of day. Murdock promotes Breakdown in Hasselt and Genk and stepped up the game with Radar @ Silo, Leuven, Rampage @ Trix, Antwerpen, and Wasted @ ICC, Gent. He rocks the biggest summer festivals like Dour (8 years in a row!), 10 Days Off, Tomorrowland, Pukkelpop and Laundry Day on a yearly basis, regularly turning up the heat on 10000+ crowds.

One87 & Hookerz (Critical Rec, Star Warz )

One87 bought his first records when he was 10 years old ... and started DJ’ing when he was 15. Solid breakbeats & phat basslines were the things in music that attracted him the most. Little later, One87 started playing Jungle …what became Drum ’n’ Bass later on ... which made his name well known in Belgium & beyond ;-)

After promoting his first events (starting in 1996, with guests such as Ed Rush & Fierce,) and opening his DJ-record shop ‘Fried Chicken Records’, he formed the Millennium Kru. That was somewhere in the late nineties… and was truly something else! It was one of the most skillful & diverse Drum ’n’ Bass sound systems around. The number of high-class bookings & top residencies they did speak for themselves... And it was also around that same time that One87 created ‘Star Warz’ (in association with M.K. from Kozzmozz), without a doubt the finest Drum ’n’ Bass concept Belgium has ever seen!

In the beginning of 2008 One87 decided to go solo again, with over 750 Jungle/Drum ’n’ Bass DJ-sets under his belt.

One87 has also been producing his own music lately and signed some tunes on Critical Music, Vampire Records and Nemesis Recordings.

Hookerz is a Ghent based Drum ‘n’ Bass DJ who’s known for his fast mixing skills and wide range of tune selection. By destroying dance-floors all over the country, Hookerz has proven himself to be a real killer DJ. Hookerz used to play back2back longside dj Gaz from Rotation dubstep. Both rude boys mashed up some of the biggest raves and clubs in the Belgian such as Star Warz, Culture Club and Petrol. However recently Hookerz is going solo and teaming up with MC Nice for some lethal 3 deck tag team business .. for this New Years he will be hook up with One87 as a special treat to the fans.

Next to being a dj, Hookerz is, together with MC Nice, also one of the hosts, of the legendary Steam nights at club Decadence, Ghent.

Hookerz was voted ‘Best dnb dj of 2010’ on Belgium’s biggest dnb community, breakzforum.be
& his live set was voted best mixtape of the year. Hookerz played at virtually every big dnb event Belgium has to offer where he shared line ups with djs/mcs such as: Sigma, Camo & Krooked, DJ Die, Jenna G, Stamina MC, Simon Bassline Smith, Ed Rush, Calibre, Logistics, Delta Heavy, Bad Company and many more

Tito & Echo Virus ( Stealth Bombers )

Echo Virus & Tito met each other for the first time in 2004, when Tito joined the PressureLab.com DJ collective, started by Echo Virus in 2001. Both sharing the same interests and ideas, they teamed up to organize a dnb event together at the end of 2004. This was a big success so they decided to organize events on a regular basis, Stealth Bombers was born!! Since 2005 Stealth Bombers is one of the biggest and longest running independent dnb events in Belgium, which grows bigger with every edition!

In 2005 Tito & Echo Virus were asked to do a back-to-back session for the first time! This combination worked so well that soon after they were getting lots of b2b requests, and this collaboration still stands today! During their sets you can expect everything drum & bass has to offer, ranging from energetic jump up over to soulful stuff, deep rollers to wobble, and beyond. Basically the entire dnb spectrum is explored; the main focus is bringing loads of variation!

In 2006 EV’s first track got released. This collab with Motion Theory called Lightpipe, received support bysome of the biggest names in the d&b scene, like Pendulum, Chase & Status, Baron, Brockie …

Tito released his first collab tune with Loonacy on Terrorbass Records UK in 2010. The tune, “Container Groove”, is a drumstep based dance-floor tune that will buzz around your head for days! “Roll With You VIP”, another collab with Loonacy, was released on “Jungle fever volume1”, mixed by Murdock, and was immediately sold out!

Tito & Echo Virus are booked almost on a weekly basis all over Belgium and had several international bookings in France, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, The Netherlands, etc!
When it comes to major gigs, this duo has plenty of experience under their belt too. They’ve played at every big festival in Belgium and off course Stealth Bombers.

Foxy Lady & Mc Elvee ( Tomorrowland )

DJ Foxy Lady is known for her open minded vision about Drum ‘n’ Bass music. Her sets are all about variation, wicked combinations, floor-fillers and cold stone classics. She loves to experiment and play with all the different styles that Drum ‘n’ Bass can offer you (deep liquid, jump-up, classics, raga dnb,…) Nothing is to crazy for this girl…

The last five years she’s been rocking stages all over Belgium with only one goal to catch the public and take them on an unforgettable journey! Highly motivated by the curiosity and fire in her heart, she always finds the strength and energy to give a starling performance from her heart, body and soul.

If you like your Mc’s funky, spicy, and full of energy… Elvee is your girl. Holding back at first, But now at full force, she jumps on stage to share her visions, thoughts and feel-good spirit with everyone who has the stamina to keep up… Inspired by deep bass-lines and the hypnotic rhythm of the drums, she writes animating, uplifting and dance inspiring lyrics that just give that extra touch to a party. Mc Elvee is all about positive vibes, good times, a short moment of amnesia and a whole lot a shaking!!! Her unique way of mc’ing combined with a positive attitude are guaranteed to put every dance-floor on fire…

Warning: Elvee combined with Foxy Lady can lead to an explosive mix. This duo loves to put dance-floors on fire and is in no way scared to do so…

Vicelord ( Deadline)

Vicelord first came in contact with Drum ‘n’ Bass in 2003 through a friend. He got dragged along to several events in Flanders, events like Bass XL in Ostend & Star Warz in Ghent where Drum ‘n’ Bass really took over his life and in 2005 he started his journey as a DJ. He also formed a crew with several friends, with the intention of throwing dnb events. They started small with the Wipe-Out editions and hosted a big event called ‘Deadline’ in 2009.

While mixing he never keeps to a single genre of Drum ‘n’ Bass, but instead tries to incorporate lots of different sub genres without losing energy in his sets. Since 2007 he started mixing with 3 decks. The last couple of years have been big with Vicelord playing at events like Laundry Day, Rollout, Stepping Bass, Stealth Bombers, Zooters, Local Bassickness, Super Ape, etc.. . He also won the Utrecht Massive DJ Contest and had the privilege to share line-ups with artists like Black Sun Empire, Limewax, Future Prophecies, Raiden, Blame, Propaganda, Eye-D & Hidden, DJ Vapour, …

ROOM 2 > DAILY DUBSTEP >>>

N Type ( Wheel and Deal Records, Tempa, UK )

The award-winning Dubstep DJ / producer and label owner N-Type is without doubt one of the heavyweights in the scene. Voted Best Dubstep DJ several years in a row, he has releases out on labels such as Tempa, 3.5 Records and his own Terrain imprint. You can always expect the freshest dub-plates, biggest beats, bass-lines and anthems in an N-Type set.

N-Type began his career presenting an underground chart show on Delight FM with DJ Walsh. He quickly established himself as the main Dubstep DJ/producer on Delight FM and did regular guest shows on many other London pirate stations and internet stations. His mix compilations were rinsed on radio, which helped him gain recognition and bookings all over England and abroad. He is always up to date with a wide selection of dubs from the finest producers. Eventually Delight fm closed down due to unexplained circumstances and N-Type moved on to Rinse Fm. Since then he has gained international recognition and currently presents a popular show on http://www.Rinse.fm. He expanded the show with more interviews, guest mixes and collaborations pushing artists and their music to the fullest.

In 2005 he focused his attention on production with his first sell out Track "Square off" hitting record shops on Southside Dubstars. He then signed tracks to other labels such as Dubpolice, Tempa and 3.5 Records and his own label Terrain Records.

His tunes have been gaining support from many Dj’s and radio stations with regular airplay on Rinse Fm, BBC Radio 1’s Breezeblock thanks to Mary Anne Hobbs and the Dubstep show on Kiss 100FM thanks to DJ Hatcha. N-Type is currently a resident at FWD>> & Dubpolice and has played at the mighty DMZ. In 2007 N-Type was then given the opportunity by Ammuntion and Tempa to mix the 5th installment of Dubstep Allstars 5. The mix was released in the summer and took the critics by storm! This was a sure sign of the growth of the music and the respect it was getting. In 2009 he started the new label Wheel and Deal Records with releases from DJ Kutz, Matt U, Youngsta, … Next to that he runs Sin City Records with DJ Hatcha.

Emalkay ( Boka Records, Dub Police, UK )

Birmingham Dubstep producer/DJ Emalkay, pronounced M – L – K, is one of the most exciting talents to emerge on the scene in recent times, and is certainly one to watch out for in 2010. With ‘When I Look at You’, 2009 witnessed Emalkay’s sudden rise to prominence.

‘When I Look at You’ has not only been heavily supported by the scene’s biggest artists, it was chosen by both BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and the Guardian newspaper as single of the week, and received a healthy amount of airplay courtesy of Radio 1 and 1Xtra. However, not content with producing arguably the biggest underground anthem of the year, Emalkay has also been busy remixing tracks for the likes of Faithless, Freeland, BBE and the Amon Tobin/Doubleclick duo Two Fingers, which featured the vocals of UK hip hop artist Sway.

Having been previously signed to the Boka Records imprint, Emalkay already has a healthy back catalogue of releases under his belt – most notably the 2007 anthem ‘Mecha’, which helped pioneer the heavier sound of Dubstep with its cinematic, sluggish beats and gut-wrenching bass. As of 2008 – and with the production of ‘Explicit’ – Emalkay was snapped up by the prestigious Dub Police label that helped pave the way for his most recent success.

Now, with a handful of fresh tracks circulating amongst the hottest names in Dubstep, things can only get better for the Birmingham producer who has since gone on to headline events all over the world, including the United States and Australia. In Belgium he’s visited major events as Transardentes and Dour Festival.

The Others vs Trolley Snatcha ( Dub Police, UK )

The musical partnership that started between Alex Crawford and Paul Baker, AKA The Others, a number of years ago has proved to be an endlessly creative and fruitful one that has continued to herald exciting results both in the studio and in clubs. Fast forward to 2011 and having decided to part ways, Alex continues to take The Others forward as a solo project and has a whole host of exciting new projects in the pipeline which will emerge over the coming months.

The Others received early support from revered DJs like N-Type, Joe Nice & Wonder who championed tracks ‘The Curse’, ‘Hear Dis Style’ (which was to become their debut release on Boka) and ‘Freakshow’, which was later picked up for release by seminal dubstep label Tempa. As momentum picked up off the back of this, it was thanks to the support of dubstep ambassador N-Type on his radio show that led to them being asked to join Caspa’s growing Dub Police stable, with whom they remain to this day. The organic development of this relationship has gone from strength to strength, with The Others becoming an integral part and the most released artist of the eclectic label.

It was after joining the Dub Police camp that Paul moved away from the production side of things and Alex took the reigns on the project. His first release for the label, ‘Africa’, garnered a lot of attention, becoming an anthem in the scene, and the VIP version of the track featured on Caspa and Rusko’s landmark FabricLive 37 compilation. A slew of towering releases followed both for Dub Police and an impressive array of other labels including Sub Soldiers, Wheel & Deal and heritage dubstep label Ringo Records. It hasn’t stopped at original productions either, as his growing reputation also led to remixes of Above & Beyond’s ‘Sun & Moon’, underground anthem ‘Hard’ by Breakage featuring Newham Generals and Pyramid’s ‘Trouble’.

Now in 2011 there was a lot going on for The Others with a number of exciting projects as a release on Dub Police this summer (First Flight EP) as well as collaborations with artists from the dubstep scene and beyond. Mate & Fudge ( After 12 )

Hiphop, Reggae and Ragga got DJ Fudge moving on the dance-floor as well as acid and techno. It is at the old Democrazy club he first heard a jungle set played by Bob Miller alongside MC Skreen (1996). The jungle virus infected him immediately. The jungle virus infected him immediately. Instead of studying he started buying records at the Fried Chicken shop in Kortrijk and the Music Mania in Ghent and tried to mix them on his first crappy decks.

From there on, he continued spinning jungle and Drum ‘n’ Bass and started promoting parties with the Warriorz crew. They invited international guests such as Break, Silent Witness, Amit, Outrage and many more. In 2005 Fudge got into the new Dubstep vibe through DJ Mate. Milestone was the "Degenerate" LP from Vex’d.

DJ Mate took his first DJ steps around ‘90-’91 when he first came in contact with jungle.
He played as one of Belgium’s 1st jungle DJ’s at the legendary Democrazy jungle nights in ‘95 alongside the No U Turn crew Ed Rush & Nico. Later he played with other UK Jungle DJs like Dylan, Zinc, Trace, Kemistry and Storm,… DJ Mate left the jungle scene for awhile and got more and more into the reggae-ragga scene next 2 his brothers TLP ‘n’ Dors. He played with the infamous T ‘n’ D Soundsystem several times.

You also know him from the legendary QPC parties in Catacombes in Roeselare, Boom Boom Room in Antwerp, wicked parties in Leuven at Silo and Rumba, in Ghent: Democrazy, resident at Afterbounce in Decadance, 10 Days Off festival…and on a few other festivals. Now DJ Mate found a new genre called dubstep and he really got the virus, all his time goes to producing and spinning dubstep.

Mate and Fudge started to spin together on the Urgent.fm radioshow "After 12". They also started promoting Dubstep parties in Ghent under the same name. International guests include Rusko, Martyn, Youngsta, Distance, Ramadanman, N-type and many more.
