Artists:
Emalkay ( Boka Records, Dubpolice, UK )
Birmingham Dubstep producer/DJ Emalkay, pronounced M – L – K, is one of the most exciting talents to emerge on the scene in recent times, and is certainly one to watch out for in 2010. With ‘When I Look at You’, 2009 witnessed Emalkay’s sudden rise to prominence.
‘When I Look at You’ has not only been heavily supported by the scene’s biggest artists, it was chosen by both BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and the Guardian newspaper as single of the week, and received a healthy amount of airplay courtesy of Radio 1 and 1Xtra. However, not content with producing arguably the biggest underground anthem of the year, Emalkay has also been busy remixing tracks for the likes of Faithless, Freeland, BBE and the Amon Tobin/Doubleclick duo Two Fingers, which featured the vocals of UK hip hop artist Sway.
Having been previously signed to the Boka Records imprint, Emalkay already has a healthy back catalogue of releases under his belt – most notably the 2007 anthem ‘Mecha’, which helped pioneer the heavier sound of Dubstep with its cinematic, sluggish beats and gut-wrenching bass. As of 2008 – and with the production of ‘Explicit’ – Emalkay was snapped up by the prestigious Dub Police label that helped pave the way for his most recent success.
Now, with a handful of fresh tracks circulating amongst the hottest names in Dubstep, things can only get better for the Birmingham producer who has since gone on to headline events all over the world, including the United States and Australia. In Belgium he’s visited major events as Transardentes and Dour Festival.

Nero ( Formation Rec, MTA, UK )
Nero is without a doubt a big name in both the Drum and Bass and Dubstep scenes, often fusing both styles of music in their DJ sets. They started with DnB, joining DJ SS’s Formation Records in the summer of 2004. Since then Dan and Joe’s tracks have caused quite a stir, gaining huge support from DJs like Andy C, Grooverider and Friction, as well as radio airplay from Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and Fabio & Grooverider, to name just a few.

In June 2006 Nero released their acclaimed EP, "Requiem EP" on Formation Records. The EP featured 4 top tracks, Requiem, Bitch I’m Gone, Autopsy and Bad for the Brain. High Contrast included Bitch I’m Gone in his mix for the legendary Fabric Live series, Fabric Live 25. 2009 saw Nero’s first release on iconic label Breakbeat Kaos. The killer track ’Act Like You Know’, backed with Sound in Motion and a Dubstep edit of the title track, hit dance-floors across the world and was picked up by Fresh and Adam F.
Onto Dubstep.... Nero’s debut Dubstep release, ’This Way’, became one of the biggest Dubstep tunes of 2008 and is still selling big units across the world. Since then, Nero’s consistent releases have made them one of the most talked about acts in Dubstep.
Their remix of The Streets’ tune ’Blinded by the Lights’ was a massive radio hit as well as a dance-floor smasher played by DJ’s from Chase and Status and Skream to Tiesto and Diplo. More recently Nero has remixed La Roux and Deadmau5 to devastating effect. The boy’s DJing career has also taken off this year, October saw an intensive gigging schedule which included supporting Deadmau5, Chase & Status and Zane Lowe on their UK tours.
They recently won the 2010 Beatport awards for best Dubstep Act and Best Dubstep Track for "Act Like You Know".

Nero is currently working on their debut album signed exclusively to Chase & Status’ label MTA ... watch this space!

Hijak ( Cultured Beats, UK )
Hijak exploded on to the Dubstep scene in 2006 with a barrage of dubbed out, bass driven beats that have shaken dance floors from Brixton to Brisbane. Hailing from Croydon in South London and working in the music scene for over the last sixteen years Hijak has created a following enthralled at both his production talents and mixing skills.
Working at Big Apple records in Croydon from 1993 to just before its closure in 2004 Hijak had seen and been involved in the meteoric rise of Jungle and Drum & Bass from a more or less London based scene to the international industry which it is today. During the Jungle years Hijak rolled with the legendary south London ‘Internatty’ crew that included: Grooverider, Fabio’ and Bailey, amongst others.. 2Step/UK garage was also a large part of Big Apple’s repertoire and Hijak was lucky enough to meet and work with producers such as Menta, Artwork, Hatcha, Benga, Horsepower, Digital Mystikz and of course his younger brother, the now infamous Croydon wonder kid ‘Skream’. All were making darker sounding beats that concentrated on the deep bass rumbles that now echo through the club nights.
Hijak has released material on labels such as “Tectonic” and “Deep Medi Musik” and now with his own “Cultured Beats” label things are really starting to take form. DJ’s who play Hijak’s beats include Skream, N-Type, Benga, Mala, Loefah plus many more.
In the past few years Hijak has been playing all over the world to growing crowds eager to hear and be a part of the new Dubstep experience which is surely taking root in the worldwide underground dance music scene.

Alley Cat ( ESP, Kokeshi Rec, UK )
Longevity in the dance music scene is hard to achieve but Alley Cat has managed to roll it out since 1997. From her DJing, to production, label work and as a director at ESP Agency she has managed to forge her way through the evolving state of the bass music scene over the last 13 years. Her first Drum ‘n’ Bass tune was released in 2000 and over the years others followed, including a collaboration with Native Minds on the legendary label Reinforced. Over the decade she DJed all over the globe. Along the way there has been various mix CDs released including a cover CD for KMag.

2009 brought her first solo release on Offshore Recordings in the form of ‘Sweet Spot’ which inspired Alley Cat to really push the production forward and additionally start off her own imprint, Kokeshi, which has achieved a cult following in a fairly short amount of time.
Kokeshi was born with the desire to release Alley Cat’s own music but soon became much more. After the first release with two Drum ‘n’ Bass tracks by Alley Cat, things went onwards and upwards quickly. The Kokeshi podcasts launched in summer 2009 and offered a moody electronic emotiveness linking Dubstep and Drum ‘n’ Bass together with ambient interludes. After only the 2nd edition it was already featured as ‘New & Notable’ in Itunes Podcasts and has gained more and more followers over the year.
Alley yearned to discover other young artists who share the same musical philosophies. Having secured the epic Dubstep tune ‘Afterlife’ by Lung, it brought the label to the next level. As a top Dubstep seller in numerous sales charts and featuring in the high selling and charting Dubstep compilation ‘This is Dubstep Vol. 2’ it’s put Kokeshi on the map as a label with forward thinking music. Alley Cat was back on production duties this time in the 140 bpm region for Kokeshi 003’s release, with Kiat: “Purple Clouds”. She has also done a tune with MC DRS (Runnin’ Away) which is shortlisted for his album forthcoming on Soul:r later this year.
Kokeshi showcases have already taken place in London and Manchester with the aim to do more later in the year. In the meantime Alley is keeping busy DJing as well since this year brought many high profile UK gigs including Hit & Run in Manchester, Detonate in Nottingham, Fabric and Hardware, In addition to regular trips to the continent, Alley Cat continues her long-standing residency at the legendary Icon Club in Berlin, where she has been holding court since 1999.

Allspark ( Daily Dubstep Resident )
Already being familiar with the global dance scene, Allspark touches down in 2011 with his Dubstep productions and dj sets.

As a DAILY DUBSTEP resident, and after signing his first releases, he’s pretty determined to get his name on the Dubstep map …and to keep it there ;-)
Watch out for his big sound, which goes straight down from deep to party.

Back to line up

Primate & Mary Jane ( Therapy Sessions )
Primate, also known as Drum ‘n’ Bass dj. Wasp, has been around for a while. With his previous projects he made it to the Boilerroom of Pukkelpop and other big events. Londen, Bristol, Krakow, Tel Aviv, Brussesl, Amsterdam, Toronto, Manhattan, Bucharest… without the help of any releases he played all over the world.

He mixes known and unkown Dupstep gems togther at a very fast rate. Don’t expect a one-sided set but a journey through the Dustep landscape with influences of jungle, ragga, rave, metal en dub. He’s not only a dj. but also organizes successful parties as Therapy Sessions and LOOP.

Primate is assisted by the lyrical arts of Mc Mary Jane, also known as the side MC of dj Lady Lite and Battery Inc.

MC Mary Jane was born in France, raised in Belgium. This little girl got big fast and nowadays she is considered as one of the best MC’s in Belgium. The big trip started after meeting and hooking up with Lady Lite in 2002. Since then Mary Jane has been singing throughout Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Czech Republic and Poland, on festivals such as Pukkelpop, Rock Herk, Laundry Day, national radio Studio Brussels and many more.

Since 2009 she’s also the resident vocalist for Dubstep dj Primate. Providing his Dubstep landscapes with smooth vocals and showing us all why she still is a master at moving the crowd.

Back to line up

Gaz ( Rotation Dubstep )
Being interested in electronic music generally, absorbing everything that sounded good, Gaz decided to start DJ’ing in 2004. But it was not until 2008 he settled down as a Dubstep DJ. He feels the Dubstep genre is influenced by all kinds of music. And that’s what he loves so much about it.

So it’s obvious his sets mainly contain Dubstep tunes. But having played Drum ’n’ Bass and house in his earlier years, Gaz carefully selects the music that fits the moment. In other words: You’ll never hear him play the same set twice, unless it’s on your iPod. Deep baselines, finger licking beats, crazy wobbles; Gaz ties them together with fast transitions into a smooth flow.

At the moment Gaz is also working on some material of his own. One track ’Annalyse’ has already been digitally released and more songs are on their way. Gaz himself describes them as Dubstep tunes walking the line of techno, house, breaks, 2step/uk garage and Drum ‘n’ Bass.

But his passion for Dubstep doesn’t end there. Gaz, living in the city of Ghent, teamed up with local club Decadance to make sure you can enjoy the finest Dubstep on the dance floor. The ’Rotation’ parties take place every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. One Belgian headliner, a talent on the rise and Gaz himself will get your feet moving. Sometimes an international DJ joins the line-up as The Others, Tes la rok, Headhunter, Pinch, Peverelist and RSD.

He already shared line-ups with national and international artists and played at venues/events such as; Vooruit, Decadance, Petrol, Zappa, CBS (Le Botanique), Fuse, Effenaar, ACU (Utrecht), Queensnight (Amsterdam), After12, Shakedown, Drumderground, 10 days off and so on ...

Back to line up

SP:MC
Within the last 6 years, SP:MC has established himself as one of the busiest and most innovative MCs in both Drum ‘n’ Bass and Dubstep. As well working closely with front-runners DJ Friction, D-Bridge, Breakage and Youngsta, he holds residencies at leading nights including Shogun Audio, A Bunch of Cuts and Club Autonomic.
His passion for the music undoubtedly comes through on the mic. With a unique flow and the confidence to leave space for the beats to breathe, it’s clear that SP is an MC who only compliments and never competes with the DJ.

With a deep understanding of the music he’s so passionate about, SP has proved himself to be a talented producer in his own right. Recent releases on Tempa (alongside Joker D) and Shogun LTD (with Jubei and Dakuan as Code3) as well as D-Bridge’s Exit Records ( Code3) have demonstrated both quality and diversity, whatever the tempo.

DMC
James Leach a.k.a. MC Dapper was born 11th of February 1979 in Reading, England. After starting to write his own lyrics and playing at a few local events in and around the Reading area , he re-located to Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 1999 and propelled himself into the depths of the Dutch/European Drum ‘n’ Bass scene, now also moving onto the Dubstep scene.

Having played in virtually every city in Holland with a Rollercoaster Tour in 2001, he has found other international success in Belgium, Germany, UK, Czech, France, Israel. He now also has residencies at other major Drum ‘n’ Bass events such as Supersonic, Ignition and is a regular player at the Forms events in Arnhem, as well as playing at events hosting 2000 ravers such as Major League in Rotterdam. After working hard on his own style and lyrics, he was voted the Number 1 MC in the Dutch Drum ‘n’ Bass awards several times in a row.

Keep posted and watch out for this MC as he has many crowd controlling skills. After several years in the business he definitely has a bright future ahead of him ...

Concept:

In 2009 Mr M & One87 launched the first edition of a brand new Dubstep concept called “Daily Dubstep”. It was an instant success and an amazing experience: a full house from the first go with loads of Dubstep fans having the night of their life.

It was more than obvious you were ready for more, as were we, and also the second and third editions were highlights in the history of Belgian Dubstep fests! We’re definitely on the go and there’s no more stopping us now ...

So prepare once more for the best Dubstep has to offer for the moment and don’t forget that all our guests are widely accepted as the instigators and leading forces of Dubstep!

Emalkay does not only have a few of the biggest underground Dubstep tracks to his name, he’s also a well in demand remixer for big names as Faithless, Freeland and Two Fingers and headlines events all over the world.

And also Nero has a big Dubstep hit under his belt with his “Act as you know” being declared “Best Dubstep track” of 2010 on Beatport, added with the title of “Best Dubstep Producer”. His debut album is on the way Chase & Status’ label MTA.

Hijak, who’s younger brother is Skream, also plays all over the world and just released his own Dubstep label, Cultured Beats.

Add to these Alley Cat, who’s been dj-ing, producing and running ESP Agency for over 10 years and you know, we’ve cooked up a line-up that’s on top of the scene. Especially as Alley’s new label and podcasts Kokeshi are creating quite a storm.

The international big guns will be joined by Belgium’s finest talents. First of all, a new resident, Allspark who’s just released his first Dubstep tracks as well as Primate who will be joined by MC Mary Jane from the famous Therapy Session parties and Gaz from Rotation Dubstep.

With the lyrics from leading Uk MC’s SP:MC and DMC for the ultimate Dubstep experience !
